Spring has come to many parts of the globe. With spring we often begin to contemplate what life has for us, where we’ve been, and how we could have done things differently. Or we may have gone through the winter of our souls.
Have you ever been in a place where you couldn’t understand how the sun could possibly rise? How dare the birds even sing?! If this is you, or someone you know, continue reading. I know it’s hard to hear, I’ve been there! You want to crawl back under the covers and let the day go by. This may be the case for a period of time but there comes a time when it should be over.
You are called to rise. You too have a purpose, just as those birds that are singing outside your window. You may not know what that purpose is yet but you are being called. You can have a life of joy. Joy is deep rooted, not depending on external circumstances. Joy gives us gumption for the day even among adverse circumstances.
Here’s a few ways you might find helpful in connecting with joy:
- Journal by taking out a pen and paper, write 3 things you are thankful for.
- Pray, connecting to the One who made you. Thank God for the things you wrote down, let go of things that aren’t within your control.
- Think of 3 things that you could do to brighten another persons day. They don’t have to be big things. Hold the door for someone, smile at a stranger, phone someone who would like to hear your voice. Hey, do something big if you would like to! You might be feeling the nudge to. You don’t have to keep it small, only do what you feel you have the strength for right now.
- Break from technology and focus rather on some quality quiet time or connect with people.
I’m curious to know what this has meant to you. Please leave a comment or send me a private message.
Joy heals us physically, mentally and spiritually.
May joy be yours!
